It’s been a while since I last posted, but a 10 day break to Egypt and Web based work has kept me with little time on my hands to post on the blog, and one of the pieces of Web work went live a week ago today, Halfbrick’s new site.
I originally built the ‘Fruit Ninja’ website for Halfbrick back in June, and after I finished my degree they then approached me to build their own company website, as you can imagine the prospect of taking on this job was very exciting. Halfbrick themselves have just hit on a run of success with the two top selling iPhone applications, ‘Fruit Ninja’, and the recently released ‘Monster Dash’, so to be associated with this great company even more was an opportunity I couldn’t wait to be involved with.
This website was on a similar in scale to my own, with the blog aspect of the build ‘WordPress’ based. The initial design of the new website took on a few different forms before finally finding it’s feet on the right road to the completed look you see today. Under the hood of the website there is a bit of JQuery going on to control lightboxes, and sliding elements, but these were never intended to be in your face, but more refined and fitting with the overall design.
The launch of the website was set for August 31st, just as Halfbrick set off for the video game show ‘PAX’. For 5 days before the launch there was a special ‘Coming Soon‘ page in place of their old website that might well make return appearances in different forms if any site maintenance or upgrades are required.
The website launched all on time, has now been out in the wild for a week and so far well received. The project itself was a really enjoyable and satisfying build, and hopefully they’ll be many more to come with future Halfbrick iPhone application websites.
Check out and the site and be sure to also check out their latest games in the app store.
Rob.
