Jun 2nd 2010
A 3 year journey is nearing it’s end, on the 18th of June between the hours of 18:00 and 20:30 (yes, during England’s 2nd WC game!!) the ‘Visual Design and Communication’ students of Ashford School of Art and Design will be at the final stage of their BA Hons Degree. They will be showcasing their work and completing their progression to understanding and confirming their own personal design identity, and I am one of these students.
September of 2008 was the beginning of this adventure, a class of students, some young, and some older, started on a HND ‘Multimedia Design’ course to learn and continually improve their knowledge and skill set in the world of art, design, animation, and more. At the end of each year we took part in an art, design and fashion event displaying our best work for people in the industry and the local public community to view. It has always rounded off the year in great style, and this, our final show, is also our most important. As after this very month it will be time for us to venture out into the big world and take what we have learn’t to hopefully become successful within our chosen areas of expertise.
To tie in with the show I have produced the advertising leaflets and posters, and a fellow student, Steve Lee has produced a website to support the event and showcase some of the student’s work that are exhibiting at the show. So be sure to give the link a visit to check out some of my classmates.
At the moment we are in the process of preparing for the event, clearing out large rooms completely, before rebuilding and creating our own show display spaces to present our work within. This week so far has involved a lot of manual labour (something not good for keyboard and mouse happy hands), but it will all be worth it, and I will do an update post early next month with photos of the event.
If you are in the Kent area, be sure to come along the week beginning 21st June, as the show is open to the general public for 5 days, and will be well worth a visit. I hope to see you there.
